Elon May be Backing Off “Council” Plan, Signaling Anglin Plan

Elon Musk is sending mixed signals about his ability to follow through on his promise to allow free speech on Twitter.

On Friday, having secured ownership of Twitter, Musk tweeted something that sounded like it could be a complete cuck-out, saying he was going to form some kind of censorship council:

Before that, he had implied that he would be implementing the “adult parental controls” system that Andrew Anglin invented. I did invent this, by the way. I wrote about how I would implement it in detail yesterday. However, I should note that simply having an on/off, rather than tiers, would also be fine.

The purpose is to avoid an obligation to censor by giving an option for anyone who is “triggered” by politically incorrect content to block that content so they don’t commit suicide from the trauma of seeing people disagree with the government. I don’t think a lot of people would actually choose the censored version, but as long as it’s there, no one can really say censorship is needed.

The ADL has new reasons for censorship, of course, saying that if someone sees people on the internet saying “Jews are powerful,” people will try to commit a Holocaust against them. But the original excuse for free speech being shut down on social media and the original meaning of “real world harm” was that people would commit suicide from the trauma of witnessing people disagreeing with the government/media, and a “safe space” option solves that.

When the Jews were pushing for this censorship, they would screenshot people calling them kikes or whatever and say “I’M BEING HARASSED! HALP!” If there is a safe space switch, those Jews can just be told to turn it on if they can’t deal with people saying mean things to them. They can then start talking about how if other people see the words, they will commit genocide, but that excuse holds less water – especially after the Jews experienced a backlash from shutting down Ye.

Even some of the Jews themselves are trying to back off of the claim that if people are allowed to talk about them everyone will want to exterminate them.

The ADL can just go out there and say “please turn on safe space on Twitter so you do not become overwhelmed with a desire to commit a Holocaust.”

Responding to someone who commented on the “council” idea, Musk said that it would be better to just do the safe space.

“Probably better” implies he might cancel the council, I guess? Because it’s probably better than what? Than censorship? I was not even aware that censorship was on the table here.

The other thing that is worth noting is that both Gab and Parler were banned from the app stores of Google and Apple because they allowed freedom of speech, and there is no reason that won’t happen to Twitter. The solution would be that if Google/Apple make that threat, you can say you’ll just deliver the safe space version to the app, and people who want the real version can open the site in a browser (you can run a browser on your phone, it’s not a big deal, but a huge number of people are addicted to the convenience of the app).

I’m sitting here refreshing Elon’s Twitter page every ten seconds for updates. That comment about the council was really a kick in the gut. I was hoping to have Donald Trump back this weekend.
