Russia Says It’s Pulling Back Troops on the Day the US Said They Were Going to Invade

Russia has the great strategic benefit of not really needing a very good plan because the West literally has no plan at all.

Of course, it is at time of writing Wednesday morning in Russia, and this is the day that Joe Biden swore that Russia was planning to invade the Ukraine. Instead, they appear to be moving their military away from the border.

That was kind of an obvious move, after Biden said that, and I don’t think it really means that the conflict is over, as they are claiming.

RT:

With Russia announcing that its troops are pulling back following the completion of exercises near the border with Ukraine, Moscow has insisted that predictions it could be just moments away from ordering a full-blown invasion have been proven false.

In a fiery statement on Tuesday, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova poured scorn on weeks of reports and claims from US and European officials that Moscow’s armed forces could be just hours away from launching a strike against its neighbor.

15 February 2022 will go down in history as the day Western war propaganda failed,” she wrote. According to her, the West has been “shamed and destroyed without firing a single shot.”

At the same time, Moscow’s Ministry of Defense announced that a number of Russian troops had finished their training exercises in Belarus, close to the Ukrainian border, and will begin the process of withdrawing.

Zakharova’s comments come after American business outlet Bloomberg reported on Saturday, citing unnamed officials, that an offensive against Ukraine could take place as early as Tuesday. The agency reported that a possible attack might include a provocation in the Donbass region or against Kiev.

The White House’s national security advisor, Jake Sullivan, told CNN over the weekend that “sources” and “gathered intelligence” suggested “major military action” could “begin any day now.” He said that this included the coming week before the end of the Olympic games.

I strongly believe Russia has no plan to invade the Ukraine, unless they have to.

“Have to” would mean that there is some kind of slaughter of ethnic Russians in the country, or a move for the Ukraine to join NATO.

Both of those things still have a high likelihood of happening, and presumably one or both will happen unless the US government just completely pussies out, so I don’t think Russia is actually going to move away from the border permanently.

They are going to back it up as a way to make the US look like the retards they are for giving this specific date, and then swing back around, most likely.

Or, maybe they’re not even moving that much at all. No one really is able to figure this out using satellite imagery or drone views. It’s all opaque. Russia wants the West to believe there are 100,000 Russian troops on the border, but there could be 1/3rd of that or three times that – no one really knows.

By the way, I think Russians are strategic geniuses of a sort that has never lived ever on earth before. These people make Sun Zhu look like a little baby. I mean that genuinely.

Please give me back my .su and I promise I’ll never question Russian strategic competence again.
