Who is Greta Thunberg, exactly?
Or, perhaps what we should be asking is… what is she, really?
Conspiracy theorists have claimed Greta Thunberg is a time traveller from the future ‘sent back to save us’ after spotting a picture of a very similar-looking girl taken 121 years ago.
Taking to Twitter, people shared the photograph which shows three children extracting water from a well in the Yukon Territory in Canada in 1898.
Standing in the foreground of the image is a young girl who looks eerily similar to the 16-year-old Swedish climate change activist.
The photograph was discovered in the picture archives of the University of Washington, and social media users were quick to share their amusing conspiracy theories.
There is really no theories here, only facts.
That photograph is literally showing Greta Thunberg in the past because there is literally no chance than anyone other than Ben Shapiro could ever look like Greta Thunberg.
Both Greta Thunberg’s mother and Ben Shapiro’s mother appear to have been quite friendly to alcohol during pregnancy. Although to be fair to Ben Shapiro’s mother, his deformed appearance may just be a result of bad genetics beyond her control.
One impressed person joked that the Swedish teenager had been ‘sent back to save us’.
‘So “Greta Thunberg” is in a photo from 120 years ago, and it’s my new favourite conspiracy,’ he tweeted. ‘Greta’s a time traveller, from the future, and she’s here to save us.’
Another social media user quipped: ‘I’m not one for conspiracy theories but she is 100 per cent a time traveller.’
‘Maybe she is from the future who was sent back in time to key moments in history to stop climate change,’ a third wrote, while one insisted: ‘What it is, right, is that actually she’s a time traveller, and she’s come to warn us about the future. It’s the only explanation.’
Despite the photograph being on the University’s website, one person suggested that the image had ‘surely been Photoshopped’ as the two faces are ‘identical’.
There is obviously no Photoshop involved in there because institutions would never do that kind of thing. The only reasonable explanations here are either time travel, and some kind of immortality or extreme longevity.
She’s supposed to be almost 17 now but she hasn’t gone through puberty yet.
Compare her to this random teenage girl from one of the student climate protests below.
Or compare her to any other 16-year-old girl.
There’s something really off about Greta.
I’d like to get a blood sample from her to examine in my lab, but I’m not even sure that she has any blood in the first place.
She looks kind of synthetic, but then again, maybe that’s what immortal vampires look like.
