Shasta Himelrick vanished from Richmondale, Ohio on Christmas after she told her family that she was pregnant. Over the course of her disappearance searches for her have taken place by land and water with little success. Meanwhile, her loved ones hold on to hope that she will be found. The following is a list of five facts in Shasta’s disappearance. At the time that this list is written, these facts are indisputable.
Shasta’s car was found abandoned with a dead battery and empty tank. Blood was found on the seat and on the back of the headrest on the driver’s side. This information was provided to The Huffington Post by the missing woman’s grandmother.
Cadaver dogs have hit on the scent of human blood and/or cadaverine near a bridge over the Scioto River. It wasn’t long after this that an object was spotted beneath the surface of the water. However, at this point it isn’t known if the object is a body or some kind of debris.
Shasta had recently been arrested on drug charges. The finer details of her arrest aren’t known to the public, but back in April 2014 she was arrested on possession of drug paraphernalia and was made to serve time in jail. Her license was also suspended. At the time of her arrest she was classified by the courts as “homeless.”
Shasta’s boyfriend is in a relationship with a dead woman on Facebook. Michael Owes is on Facebook listing Michelle Frankel as his girlfriend since October 26, 2006. The thing is, Michelle Frankel died in April (around the time Shasta was being arrested on drug charges). The Haller Funeral Home obituary writes that Michelle K Frankel died “unexpectedly April 28, 2014 at Adena Regional Medical Center.” The details surrounding Frankel’s death aren’t immediately known, but it is known that her brother is also dead (in unrelated incidents, reportedly). It’s rumored that drug use is responsible for one or both of these deaths.
Michael Owes has been questioned regarding Shasta’s disappearance. However, he was released on bond after his arrest on unrelated warrants. Officials in Ross County have now declared whether he’s a suspect in the woman’s disappearance or not.
