Mace: I’m wearing the scarlet letter after the week I had being a woman and being demonized for my vote and voice. pic.twitter.com/guVpxGHUq7

It’s almost like everything a woman does is somehow about sex. Even when it’s not obvious to you that it’s about sex, if you let her talk about it, she will start talking about sex.
Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) donned a red “A” on her shirt Tuesday after her vote to oust former Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) left her feeling “demonized” on Capitol Hill, she said.
“I’m wearing the scarlet letter after the week that I just had, last week, being a woman up here and being demonized for my vote and for my voice,” Mace told reporters, apparently referencing the 19th century novel in which the protagonist was condemned to wear a red “A” — a “scarlet letter” — after becoming pregnant out of wedlock.
“I’m here to let the rest of the world know and the country know: I’m on the side of the people. I’m not on the side of the establishment,” Mace continued. “And I’m going to do the right thing every single time, no matter the consequences, because I don’t answer to anybody in D.C.; I don’t answer to anyone in Washington. I only answer to the people.”
It may seem confusing to you that a woman would compare adultery (that’s what the “A” stands for) to being on the side of the people and doing the right thing. Generally, people think of adultery as both a private matter and the wrong thing. However, women think that adultery is “acting from the heart” and that’s what she believes she did in ousting McCarthy.
See? It makes sense.
Some people have been claiming that she doesn’t know what the “A” stands for. I don’t think this is possible.
She’s 45, which is significantly older than me, and I know as a matter of fact that white people my age didn’t make it through high school without having at least read a summary of “The Scarlet Letter.”
It’s one of the better novels, and certainly one of the better American novels.
(Also… I’m the number one person saying “women are stupid,” but wouldn’t she at least ask “what does the ‘A’ stand for?”)
I think this comeback is already in full-swing.
