Apple is suspending an artificial intelligence feature that made inaccurate summaries of news headlines.
The tech company received a complaint from the BBC after the AI-generated service issued a news alert branded with the corporation’s logo falsely telling some iPhone users that Luigi Mangione, who is accused of killing the UnitedHealthcare chief executive, Brian Thompson, had shot himself.
Other false notices that carried the BBC logo included one claiming Luke Littler had won the PDC World Darts final before playing in it and another that the tennis player Rafael Nadal had “come out” as gay.
Apple said in a statement that the feature would be suspended as part of its next software update, due imminently. Other news organisations were affected by the errors, with a summary of New York Times alerts wrongly claiming that Israel’s prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, had been arrested.
How do you say Luigi shot himself in prison? Like, if it had picked up someone else killing himself in prison and gotten confused, you could at least understand it, but no one can shoot himself in prison because you are not allowed to have guns in prison.
All the AI has to do is summarize headlines. It shouldn’t ever get confused and mix things together.
If they had just installed vanilla Llama, it would have done much better than this. Basically, any AI can do this job. I think even Grok could manage.

Anyone who has used the latest generation of Xiaomi’s flagship is aware that the only thing keeping Apple in the game at all at this juncture is the fact that China’s products are tariffed (and basically banned outright). Xiaomi and Huawei are both better than iPhone. They do not feel like Android at all, but instead like iPhones felt several years ago. iPhone now feels like garbage to use. It is not a good experience at all.
Both Apple and Tesla would collapse virtually immediately if the US actually upheld the “rules-based order” values it used to destroy American industry and allowed for the free flow of goods.
I never supported moving all of those jobs to China, which was completely insane. But they did it and gutted the American working class. It’s done. But now they’re going in and saying you can’t have jobs or the benefits of the global free market. You got double screwed.
Everywhere the Chinese are allowed to compete, they destroy the US.
Of the top 5 computer games on the biggest platform right now, two are Chinese, one is Korean, and the other two are American but they’re made by Valve, which is the one tech company that has actually maintained an American ethos.
I talk about this video game issue when talking about China a lot, because it is the only major industry in which they are even allowed to compete with American companies. The Americans block appliances and everything else, because they simply cannot compete.
It really gives the lie to the claim by Elon Musk that we have to import billions of Indians in order to “compete with China,” because we already don’t compete with China. The US has created a kind of iron curtain. They also ban Europe from importing most Chinese products.
It’s not because the American people are not capable, it is because everything is completely corrupt and depraved. Most of these companies are run by bumbling Indian sewer scum, and it’s the law in America that everything has to be gay.
It’s very sad to see Apple, which was once one of the great American companies, become nothing but a big swindle that makes all of its profits by nickel and dimeing people. If they would actually hire Americans, they could be designing great things. But they just want to hire Indians to come up with new ways to rip people off.
