Australia’s Social Distancing Rules Could Stay in Place for ONE YEAR, Says Prime Minister

It seems that people will be denied a social life until a vaccine for coronavirus is ready.

Daily Mail:

Australian public life could be restricted for another year because of the coronavirus pandemic, Prime Minister Scott Morrison warned on Friday, as the country’s most populous state mulled sending children to school in shifts.

Australia has so far avoided the high numbers of coronavirus casualties reported around the world after closing its borders and imposing strict social distancing measures for the past month.

Restaurants, bars and other non-essential businesses have closed and public gatherings of more than two people are banned under the threat of fines and even prison. The measures that are expected to double the unemployment rate by mid-year.

In response, the daily growth rate of reported new infections has steadied in the low percentage single digits, from about 25 percent several weeks ago. Australia has seen a total of about 6,500 coronavirus infections and 63 deaths.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison said some measures, like the rule requiring people to stand at least 1.5 metres apart, would likely remain for several months, given there was no guarantee a vaccine would be developed in that time.

Social distancing is something we should get very used to,’ Morrison told radio station 3AW. ‘It could be a year, but I’m not speculating about that.’

‘Certainly while the virus is prevalent across the world (the 1.5 metre rule) should be a natural instinct.’

Morrison had said on Thursday the wider social distancing measures would be in place for at least another four weeks, while advocating the reopening of schools across the country, citing medical advice that children are a low risk of transmission.

The “1.5 meters apart” rule is stupid, unenforceable, and even if people somehow managed to keep that distance at all times, all of their efforts can be destroyed by just one lone sneeze 8 meters away.

Besides, experts are saying that it’s pretty easy to spread coronavirus.

Study Finds:

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says the virus may travel through the air even further than originally thought. Coronavirus has also been found living on the shoes of medical workers, threatening to carry the illness to more locations.

A study, published in the CDC’s journal Emerging Infectious Diseases, tested the air and surfaces inside hospitals in Wuhan, China — the suspected origin of the pandemic. The CDC says SARS-CoV-2 was found in the air up to 13 feet away from patients. Officials add that the virus which causes COVID-19 was also “widely distributed on floors, computer mice, trash cans, and sickbed handrails.”

To this point, the CDC’s social distancing policies recommend staying at least six feet away from others.

Staying six feet away from other people is completely unrealistic.

All social distancing measures are rendered useless the moment someone has to get closer to someone else for any reason, like handing someone a credit card or cash.

Which is why all of you have to be chipped with a tiny electronic device to handle your finances remotely.

And it’s also why you cannot interact with people until you’re properly vaccinated.
