Waffle House used to be a fun, family joint.

Not any more.

WAVE:

One person is in custody for the shooting death of a Lanesville man outside a New Albany Waffle House early Saturday morning, and police believe three other people are involved in the case.

Floyd County Prosecutor Keith Henderson identified the suspect as Marcus Thomas Threatt Jr., 22, of Jeffersonville. Threatt is charged with murder and trafficking in marijuana.

Henderson said the motive was an attempted robbery during a drug transaction involving the victim, Charles E. Fischbach IV.

The investigation into this case led police to the University of Louisville to question individuals, Henderson said.

New Albany Police Chief Todd Bailey said officers were dispatched to the Waffle House at 325 West Spring Street about 2:30 a.m. on Saturday on a report of a gunshot. Upon arrival, they found Fischbach suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to University of Louisville Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
