22-year-old Anthony Jackson is looking at spending the rest of life in prison if convicted in the shooting death of Jamey Spurlock.
22-year-old Anthony Jackson is one of 4 people being held in the Dougherty County Jail charged with the murder of Spurlock. Jackson has been in jail since Christmas Eve on unrelated charges.
He made his first appearance in magistrate court Thursday morning.
Detectives formally charged him Wednesday with murder and armed robbery. Jackson, along with 16-year-old Fredrico Kennedy and brothers Demetrice and Kovarious Price are 4 of 5 suspects who detectives say shot Spurlock while he changed a flat tire off of Mobile Avenue, killing the young father just days before his wedding.
As for Jackson, he’s been in and out of jail since 2009, charged with crimes ranging from aggravated assault to rape and child molestation. He was being held in the Dougherty County Jail on charges of probation violation and theft by taking at the time of his arrest.
Police continue to search for 18-year-old Demonta Price, a third Price brother. Murder warrants have been issued for his arrest.
Demonta Price was previously arrested on charges of street gang terrorism, but police have not said if this killing was in anyway gang related and they have not identified the suspected triggerman.
If you know where Price is, call Albany Police or CrimeSTOPPERS at 436-TIPS.
