Malcolm Parker is being sought by police after disappearing while on home leave from prison.

Police are hunting a convicted armed robber who has fled from custody.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said that Malcolm Parker, 55, “is not currently considered to be a direct threat to the public but we would advise that he is not approached.”

Parker was released on a temporary licence from HMP Blantyre House in Kent for a home visit on January 6 at 8am. He was due to return at 5.30pm that day but failed to do so.

Parker was sentenced to serve a minimum of 20 years in August 2005 after pleading guilty to eight counts of armed robbery at Kingston Crown Court.

Parker is black, balding, 6ft 1ins tall and of medium build. He also has a distinctive one to two inch scar on his left elbow.

Scotland Yard said that anyone who sees him should contact police immediately or call Crimestoppers.
