Mira Dressel died under unknown circumstances and two Blacks tried to hide her body.

A 43-year-old Ypsilanti man admitted in court on Wednesday that he wrapped up the body of 21-year-old Mira Dressel and tried hiding it under a bush in Ypsilanti Township.

Michael Ware pleaded guilty to a count of concealing the death of an individual, conspiracy to conceal the death of an individual and removing a dead body without the permission of the medical examiner.

Ware told Judge Archie Brown that he and co-defendant, 47-year-old Derrick Campbell, spoke about their plan for 45 minutes before carrying it out.

“I wrapped the body up and moved it,” he said.

Ware also told Brown that he “didn’t know for sure” Dressel was dead, but admitted he was pretty sure she was.

Brown didn’t commit to a specific sentencing, but did agree to stay within the guidelines.

Ware and Campbell allegedly tried to hide Dressel’s body under a bush in the 2700 block of Golfside Road in Ypsilanti Township July 26.

Michael Ware pleaded guilty to concealing the death of an individual, conspiracy to conceal the death of an individual and removing a dead body without the permission of the medical examiner.

Ware attempted to use the car service BWB Transportation to move Dressel’s body from Ypsilanti to Ypsilanti Township, a service he would regularly use to go back and forth to medical appointments, according to investigators.

He called the cab service that night from his residence in the 500 block of Pearl Street in Ypsilanti. The driver contacted Campbell, who owns the service, because she was concerned about what Ware loaded into the trunk.

Campbell arrived in the 2700 block of Golfside Road and assisted Ware in putting Dressel’s body underneath a bush, police allege.

The cab driver contacted police soon afterward. Dressel’s body was located and Campbell was arrested at the scene. Ware turned himself in days later.

Police on Thursday said that Dressel died of “mixed drug toxicity.”

Ware was also in court on a drug-related case Wednesday. He pleaded guilty to possession of Ecstasy. Brown agreed to sentence Ware to a concurrent sentence in both cases.

Campbell is scheduled to appear in court Oct. 15, according to court records. He remains on 10 percent of a $25,000 bond.

Ware remains in jail on a $50,000 bond. He is scheduled to be sentenced Oct. 22.
