A drug deal turned into an armed robbery in Natchitoches has resulted in a shooting and 3 arrests, including the victim.
According a statement released by Sheriff Victor Jones, deputies were called to the area of Main St. and Old River Rd. in Natchez at 11:21 a.m. on Saturday morning for a report of an armed robbery with shots fired.
The victim called 911, telling operators that two black males in a silver Chevrolet pickup truck had robbed him at gunpoint of over $200 after he helped them with their disabled vehicle in Cedar Grove subdivision south of Natchitoches. The victim also told police that after the robbery, the men left the area heading south on La. Hwy 494 towards Natchez. As they approached the intersections of La. Hwy 494 and La. Hwy 119 in Natchez, La., the driver of the pickup truck allegedly fired three shots at the victim.
The victim says he continued following the men, staying on the line to give deputies their location as they turned on Main Street and then onto Old River Road, traveling northbound toward a closed bridge. At that point, deputies say the victim stopped at a nearby residence while they moved in pull the truck over.
By then, several NPSO deputies were on the scene, along with a Louisiana State Trooper. Officers say they stopped the pickup and took both men into custody without incident on Old River Rd. A search of the vehicle allegedly turned up a loaded M&P .40 caliber semi-automatic pistol, suspected crystal methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia. All of the items were seized.
Deputies say they also found three bullet holes in the suspect’s truck. Both of the men were arrested.
The driver, 28-year-old Douglas Lamond Bell, was booked into the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center, charged with 1 count each of attempted first degree murder, armed robbery with a firearm, possession of a CDS Schedule II crystal methamphetamine, illegal possession of a firearm during a felony narcotics offense, possession of drug paraphernalia. He caught an additional charge of entering and introduction of contraband into a penal institution during the booking process, police say, after stolen cash and a cellophane baggie containing suspected meth were allegedly found in his shoe.
The passenger of the truck, 26-year-old Quincy Daniel Moss was also booked into the NPDC, charged with 1 count each of principle to attempted first degree murder, principle to armed Robbery with a firearm, possession of a CDS Schedule II methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Both Bell and Moss remain in the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center without bond.
