Authorities say that four men accused of killing a German tourist who was visiting San Francisco in 2010 have pleaded guilty to lesser charges.
The San Francisco Chronicle reports that Phillip Stewart, Delvon Scott, Raheem Jackson and Willie Eason, who had been indicted on murder charges, will serve between five and nine years in state prison after reaching plea agreements with prosecutors.
The San Francisco District Attorney’s office dropped the murder charges in exchange for guilty pleas on gun and assault charges in connection with the 2010 death of Mechthild Schröer, an elementary school rector from Hannover, Germany.
Schröer was in San Francisco to celebrate her 50th birthday and 25th wedding anniversary with her husband, Stefan, when she was shot during an exchange of gunfire between rival gangs outside a comedy club on Aug. 10, 2010.
