When will you learn, ladies?

WXOW:

The man charged with killing his girlfriend in Black River Falls in 2013 will serve 25 years in prison. Michael Harmon, 39, pleaded no contest to reckless homicide charges. In return, prosecutors dropped the original charge of first degree intentional homicide. 25 years is the maximum sentence for second degree reckless homicide.

Prosecutors say Harmon shot and killed Angela Nelson at their apartment back in June of 2013. Harmon claims it was an accident and happened during a struggle, but autopsy results showed that Nelson was not shot from close range. Family members of Angela Nelson got the opportunity to speak to Harmon in court on Wednesday. Following the family’s remarks, Harmon spoke to the family.

“I can’t take back what I’ve done, that’s something I can’t. I did not mean to do this, I did not. I’m not going to insult you and ask for forgiveness. I wouldn’t forgive you if you took my daughter, and no I didn’t mean to,” said Harmon.

Following his 25 year sentence, Harmon will have an additional 15 years of extended supervision once he’s released.
