Tiffany Cane-Smith Farley had been stabbed repeatedly by her Black husband.

A man was arraigned on a an open murder charge for the death of his wife on Thursday.

Andrew Farley Jr.’s charge comes after Tiffany Cane-Smith Farley’s body was found at their home on the 5100 block of Centreville Road in Genesee County’s Grand Blanc Township on Sunday night. A gas leak at the home was also discovered.

Police were called to the home around 8:30 p.m. Sunday when they found the woman deceased in the home. Andrew Farley was injured inside the home, police said. He was transported to an area hospital for treatment.

Officers said the gas leak may have been caused intentionally. Neighboring homes were evacuated because of the high levels of gas.

Tiffany Farley had several stab wounds to her upper body, police said.

Andrew Farley is lodged at the Genesee County Jail.

Genesee County prosecutor David Leyton said the evidence suggests a fight broke out in the couple’s home and Andrew Farley stabbed his wife repeatedly, including a fatal wound to her heart.

Hid defense attorney Ken Karasick said the whole story has not been told and it will come out during the trial.

“It’s just a very scary thing,” said neighbor Harmony Langford.

Neighbors like Langford are still in shock over the news that Tiffany Farley was found murdered in her home just down the street in the quiet Grand Blanc community.

“This is a neighborhood that you always see kids out, you see people walking and jogging and riding their bikes,” Langford said.

Andrew Farley was a teacher at Woodland Park Academy Charter School in Grand Blanc.

Sandy Monaghan still can’t believe her friend is gone.

“I knew Tiffany through our animal rescue work and she was a bright light, sweet gal,” Monaghan said.

Monaghan said she knew the Farleys and they seemed like a picture perfect couple.

“From what I could see they were great. They were very much in love. She teased him. He was the ever tolerant Stahlwart husband,” Monaghan said.

She said Tiffany Farley fostered animals. She was fostering kittens at the time of her death. Monaghan said her efforts helped saved their lives.

“Her attitude with animals was ‘I will do everything necessary.’ She was up every two hours bottle feeding those kittens,” Monaghan said.

Those kittens were in the house when she died and now Leslie Haney, another friend of Tiffany’s and animal rescue volunteer, is taking care of them. She said Tiffany helped save dozens of animals lives.

“I’m sad, she really did a lot for the animals. She was always on street rescues going through abandoned houses, crawling into attics and she’s gonna be missed,” Haney said.

The kittens are in good hands now while residents wait to learn the details about just what happened to the woman who helped save them.
