Black Husband in Court for Murdering White Wife

Tayler Lindsey Burruss was found dead inside her home and by mid-afternoon her Black husband had been arrested for her murder.

A man charged with his wife’s murder will have his first court appearance Tuesday in Fluvanna County.

The Fluvanna Co. Sheriff’s Office is waiting on the medical examiner’s report to officially determine how Tayler Lindsey Burruss died.

Law enforcement responded to a home on Jefferson Drive in the Lake Monticello neighborhood around 4 a.m. Saturday, September 5. Detectives found Tayler L. Burruss dead inside the home.

By mid-afternoon, Sheriff Eric Hess named Tayler’s husband, 33-year-old Franklin Lee Burruss, as the suspect in her death, and that he was in custody.

Franklin L. Burruss is charged with first degree murder, and is being held at the Central Virginia Regional Jail.

Sheriff Hess would not say if deputies had been called to the Burruss home before for any kind of domestic situations. The sheriff says they are looking at many days of investigation ahead.

The Virginia State Police is assisting with the investigation.

Burruss is scheduled to appear in court for his arraignment at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8.
