A Fort Worth mother is in jail accused of stabbing her three-year-old son in their apartment.
“I was seeing things and hearing things that aren’t even there,” Nadia Douglas told CBS 11 News in a jailhouse interview.
Fort Worth police were called to the Spring Garden Apartment complex around 8 p.m. on December 28 to check on the little boy named Jeremy, according to family members.
When they arrived, police found Nadia Douglas, 33, alone with the child, who was bleeding heavily. According to the officers on the scene, Douglas admitted to stabbing the toddler and was immediately arrested.
“Jeremey was just watching TV and I went to the kitchen then I heard another noise went back into the room that’s when I stabbed my child,” said Douglas, who admitted she stopped taking her medication for depression and schizophrenia in May.
She will be charged with Serious Bodily Injury to a Child. Her son is being treated at Cook Children’s Hospital.
Douglas said she will do whatever it takes to keep Child Protective Services from taking her son. CPS is investigating the incident.
