Arthur ‘Boopy’ Reid was also charged with producing child pornography, but did a deal and got those charges dropped.

A pimp known as “Boopy” found with three underage girls at a Macon motel pleaded guilty Monday to a charge of sex trafficking of children.

Arthur Gerald Reid, 27, of Macon faces between 10 years and life in prison, according to a statement from U.S. Attorney Michael Moore. The girls’ ages were not disclosed, and it wasn’t clear Monday what happened to them.

According to the plea agreement, Reid agreed that the government could have proved he prostituted a juvenile girl who ran away from her Houston County home in late 2011. She began prostituting for Reid that same year.

The girl told GBI agents that Reid, whom she knew as “Blue,” paid for rooms in his name at an Economy Inn and Motel 6 in Macon. Another location is blacked out in the plea agreement.

According to that agreement, Reid also brought the girl to Tybee Island for prostitution and used the money to pay for his own apartment. In the plea agreement, Reid also agreed that prosecutors could prove that he used an Internet site to advertise the girl’s services and physically abused her.

The GBI reached out to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office during the investigation, and in February 2013 a deputy found the girl at a Days Inn motel in Macon. A man leaving a room said there was a second girl in that room, while the first girl was in a different room.

The second girl told deputies that “Boopy” kept a gun in the air-conditioning unit of a room.

Several deputies gathered before knocking on Reid’s door. They found Reid, the first girl, a third juvenile girl and an adult woman. They also found the gun, which turned out to be a BB gun.

The first girl told officers that Reid was her pimp, and she showed deputies her cell phone. On it were pictures that Reid had sent, showing all three underage girls naked and in a bath tub.

A grand jury initially accused Reid of three counts of production of child pornography and four counts of sex trafficking of children. He agreed to plead guilty to a single count of sex trafficking of children.

In a statement, Moore said, “The defendant seized upon the opportunity to exploit these vulnerable victims. All children deserve to be safe from predators like the defendant, and it is the duty of the law to protect them.”

The FBI also helped investigate the case.
