The Black suspects have been stalking and robbing senior citizens.

Police are trying to track down the trio of suspects who they say have been stalking out senior citizens at banks throughout Philadelphia then attacking and robbing them.

“They’re scum, really scum – going after people that really can’t afford it,” said Bayard Stonehill, victim.

83-year-old Stonehill, who is recovering from throat cancer, spoke about the suspects who police say have been targeting the elderly in Northeast Philadelphia, Juniata and Northern Liberties.

Stonehill, who is on a fixed income, says the suspects took about $1,000 from him.

Authorities say since last April, three men have targeted about 11 victims and all, except one of them, are seniors. The oldest victim is 96.

Police believe the suspects follow the victims to the bank, stand behind them in line and listen to see if they are withdrawing large sums of money.

“They’re followed home and accosted and sometimes beaten, sometimes just pushed over, sometimes the money is just grabbed,” said Lt. Dennis Rosenbaum, Philadelphia Police.

One victim, an 86-year-old, remains hospitalized after suffering injuries from an assault during one of the robberies.

In the case of Stonehill, he had just left the PFCU Bank on Roosevelt Boulevard and had driver next door to Gallo’s Seafood to order takeout.

That’s when Stonehill says a man opened his passenger door, grabbed the envelope with cash and fled.

It all happened so fast, but Stonehill has advice for other potential victims.

“Everybody should be careful of their surroundings and if they’re stopped in the car, lock the doors,” he said.

Stonehill is grateful he wasn’t injured but the money stolen really put a dent in his pocket.

The suspects were seen driving a white Honda Civic and/or a silver Chevy Malibu.

Anyone with information is urged to call Philadelphia Police at 215-686-TIPS (8477).
