District Attorney Scott Thomas released a statement saying it is standard procedure for the State Bureau of Investigations to investigate all shootings involving law enforcement officers.
The investigation is estimated to take about two weeks and will determine whether or not the shooting was justified. D.A. Thomas says all initial indications are that the shooting was justified and the officers acted properly.
