“Sanford is acquainted with one of the children of the victims.”
It turns out that that person is the coalburning daughter.
Who could have predicted it?
A teenager has been arrested for the ‘targeted killing’ of a University of Wisconsin doctor and her husband who were found dead in a ditch in Madison, Wisconsin, – as authorities revealed the suspect is ‘known to the family’.
Khari Sanford, 18, was arrested late Thursday for the double-homicide of Dr. Beth Potter, 52 and Robin Carre, 57 following numerous tips, University of Wisconsin Police Department spokesman Marc Lovicott confirmed Friday.
Police said the suspect is ‘known to the family’ and that ‘this was not a random act’.
The UWPD declined to confirm to DailyMail.com the nature of Sanford’s relationship to the family at this stage.
However, sources told 27 News that Sanford is acquainted with one of the children of the victims.
That child’s Facebook page features a video of the suspect playing football for Madison West High School.
The bodies of Potter and Carre were found in a ditch by a jogger at around 6:30am Tuesday in the UW Arboretum, a research and popular recreational area within 1,200 acres of forests and prairies.
Carre was pronounced dead at the scene and Potter died later in hospital.
Potter and Carre died from ‘homicidal related trauma,’ according to the Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Authorities have not disclosed the manner of their deaths, but UWPD described the slayings as ‘calculated, cold-blooded, and senseless’.
According to a website set up to share memories about the couple, they leave behind three children.

Sanford was arrested on two counts of first degree homicide Thursday and is currently being held in Dane County Jail.
On Facebook, Sanford, 18, shared a brazen photo showing him holding a gun and made comments about policing the police. He also recently received a deferred prosecution in an auto theft case, according to Wisconsin court records. The motive for the murders is not clear, but he listed on Facebook that he attended the same high school as the victims’ daughter and two sons. The Potter/Carre daughter wrote comments on Facebook that indicate she had been in a relationship with Sanford.
