Why would the media hide this?
Two callous teens sent a 91-year-old man to the hospital when they beat him up — as he bent down to pick up a cell phone on the Upper West Side, police said Friday.
The elderly man was on West 66th Street and Broadway on Tuesday at about 2:30 p.m. when he went to retrieve the phone, which cops said did not belong to him, authorities said.
That’s when alleged thugs Destinee Moore, 18, and Geneiva Mitchell, 17, moved in on the nonagenarian, authorities said.
“He has your phone!” one of the girls shouted to the other, according to sources.
During the teens’ arraignment on assault charges in Brooklyn Criminal Court Friday, Assistant District Attorney Andrea Kimmel said that surveillance footage captured the elderly man pick up the cell phone, while Moore and Mitchell approach the man with two other friends.
“They had a 10 second conversation,” according to Kimmel, before Mitchell grabbed the phone as Moore and her pals attacked the man.
“This is a very serious case involving the assault of a 91-year-old male,” said Kimmel.
The victim, who suffered bruises to his face, was taken to Roosevelt Hospital for treatment.
