Another elderly casualty of diversity.
WTAE:
Allegheny County homicide detectives have identified a suspect in the fatal shooting of a 72-year-old man this week in McKeesport.
Detectives are asking for help to find 18-year-old Rashawn Walker, who they say is already wanted on two unrelated warrants and should be considered armed and dangerous.
Walker is described as black, about 5 feet 9 inches tall and 180 pounds, with a tattoo on the front of his neck. Police said he is from the McKeesport area but has ties to Clairton and is known to hide in the hotels at the Homestead Waterfront.
Anyone with information on Walker’s whereabouts is asked to call police at 412-473-1300. Callers can remain anonymous.
Police say the victim, James Ponzo, was driving near Crawford Village just before 3 p.m. Wednesday when, for unknown reasons, someone started shooting. A bullet hit Ponzo in the head, and he crashed his car into another vehicle on Fifth Avenue.
Two people in a white SUV were also taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries from the collision with Ponzo. Police say all three of the victims are innocent.
Friends told Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 that Ponzo had friends throughout Glassport, where he had lived his entire life. He was active at his church, Queen of the Rosary, where he served as a Eucharistic minister and often volunteered at events.
“It breaks my heart, and it breaks everybody’s heart that knew him,” church member Amy Megahan said. “He was just a good, kind person. Anytime you needed help, he was there to help.”
