It would seem like plotting a murder would justify more than a minimum 14 month sentence.
A Michigan prisoner, charged in three counties for threatening to kill his ex-wife and children, was sentenced Wednesday.
Jackson County Circuit Judge John McBain on May 23 sentenced Kevin Beverly to serve 14 months to five years in prison after he pleaded guilty to one count of witness intimidation.
Beverly, 45, was accused of threatening his former wife, Nicole Beverly, in 2012, and instructing her on what to say at a child support proceeding.
Resentful trash talk can be fairly common in prison, but there was something about the way Kevin Beverly talked about killing his children and ex-wife that made fellow inmates say they believe he meant it.
While incarcerated with the Michigan Department of Corrections, prosecutors said he contacted his ex-wife at her Wayne County workplace and threatened to kill her and their two children for filing a police report regarding his abuse.
