The two women charged in connection with the fatal stabbing of a lawyer at an upscale D.C. hotel have plead guilty.
Jamyra Gallmon, 21, pleaded guilty to second degree murder with a weapon in the death of 30-year-old David Messerschmitt. Dominique Johnson, Gallmon’s alleged girlfriend, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit robbery in connection with the homicide.
Johnson was released until her sentencing on Aug. 14.
According to court documents previously released, Gallmon told police that she went to The Donovan hotel on Feb. 9 with the intention of robbing Messerschmitt, but stabbed him with a knife after he grabbed her arm and they started fighting. An autopsy found Messerschmitt was stabbed at least seven times, including once through the heart.
Gallmon admitted Thursday to stabbing Messerschmitt seven times.
Police say Messerschmitt was at the hotel on the day he was killed to meet someone who had responded to an ad he posted on Craigslist seeking sex with another man. Messerschmitt invited the person he was communicating with to a room at The Donovan hotel. Police said the account of the person who responded to Messerschmitt was eventually linked to Gallmon.
