The Escambia County Sheriff’s office has identified a woman who was found dead Wednesday in a Pensacola residence.

Deputies reportedly found the body of Angela M. Cook, 39, in a residence in the 2700 block of North U Street after the home’s resident, Matthew N. Warren, allegedly said he had killed Cook and put her in his garbage can, a Sheriff’s Office news release said.

Cook was reportedly located in a trash receptacle in Warren’s living room with numerous lacerations on her body, according to the release.

The Medical Examiner’s Office is investigating Cook’s exact cause of death.

Warren is currently being held in Escambia County Jail without bond.

A Pensacola man was charged with murder Tuesday evening after he reportedly told deputies he killed a woman and put her in his trash can, an Escambia County Sheriff’s Office news release said.

At about 5:30 p.m., deputies responded to the 2700 block of North U Street in reference to a male in the middle of the street covered in blood, the release said.

Deputies found Matthew N. Warren, 32, in the middle of the street, according to the release. The report said Warren made a spontaneous statement that he had killed a woman and put her in his trash can.

The responding deputies reportedly went into Warren’s residence and found a deceased woman in a gray trash receptacle in the living room.

The Sheriff’s Office has not released the female’s identity or cause of death at this time. Investigators also have not released any details on the motive for the killing or the relationship between Warren and the victim, citing an ongoing investigation.

Warren was charged with first-degree murder. He is being held in Escambia County Jail without bond.
