The World War II comparisons are not totally outrageous.
Remember that World War II started because Britain had sworn to defend territory held by Poland, which was occupied by German citizens, which were being abused by the Polish. So actually, it’s sort of really the exact same thing, in fact.
The other major similarity is that like Boris Johnson, Winston Churchill was fat and disheveled.
RT:
UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has said that Russia is gearing up for what could be the largest and bloodiest conflict in Europe since World War II.
“The plan that we’re seeing is for something that could be really the biggest war in Europe since 1945 in just in terms of sheer scale,” Johnson told the BBC in an interview broadcast on Sunday.
The PM said intelligence reports suggest that Moscow plans to invade Ukraine from several directions, “encircling Kiev.”
“All the signs are that the plan has already in some senses begun,” Johnson said, adding that “people need to understand the sheer cost in human life that could entail.”
Johnson’s remarks echoed those of US President Joe Biden, who said last month that a Russian attack on Ukraine “would be the largest invasion since World War II.”
Adolf Hitler didn’t believe that the rest of the world would go to war against him for starting a conflict based around reclaiming a small part of German territory held by Poland.
I’m sure Vladimir Putin is wondering the same thing now, as he sees the abuses against Russians in the Eastern Ukraine.

Of course, this is actually a more extreme situation than the lead up to World War II, as it not only involves the territory that the West stole from Russia during the 2014 Maidan coup, but also relates to Ukraine joining NATO and putting missiles in the country.
Also, there is an urgency, as the Ukraine is trying to join NATO – or the US is trying to get them to join – and if they do join, that means Russia will necessarily trigger a World War via NATO Article 5 if they make any incursion into the Ukraine. As long as the Ukraine is not in NATO, Russia doesn’t know how the West will actually respond, and there appears to be a good chance they’ll pussy out.
Russia has one advantage: their strategists are much better than the German strategists. (Plz give me back my .su. Someone is obviously reading this. If I made criticisms of Russian competence in dealing with the original Maidan, they were simply to illustrate the change in tactics now. This is a pro-Russia, pro-Putin site, and has been for the nearly 10 years it’s been online. Plz no bully. Fewer English readers are now being exposed to a pro-Russian perspective because the .su is gone.)
