Letting the DOJ run an organized campaign to take people’s guns away might seem illegal when you hear about it.
No one can really explain what “legal” and “illegal” are anymore though. Blacks seem to be allowed to commit most forms of violent crime. Theft has been totally legalized. There are millions of people crossing the border.
There is no system of order here. It’s a tyranny.
Vice President Kamala Harris will travel to Florida on Saturday where she will tout a Biden administration effort to provide “training and technical assistance” to individuals “responsible for implementing laws designed to keep guns out of the hands of people who pose a threat to themselves or others.”
The new program drew immediate backlash from some Republicans who called the effort a “massive Red Flag Operation.”
The National Extreme Risk Protection Order (ERPO) Resource Center, according to a Saturday Department of Justice press release, will specifically provide assistance to law enforcement officials, prosecutors, attorneys, judges, clinicians, victim service and social service providers, community organizations and behavioral health professionals.
“ERPO laws, which are modeled off domestic violence protection orders, create a civil process allowing law enforcement, family members (in most states), and medical professionals or other groups (in some states) to petition a court to temporarily prohibit someone at risk of harming themselves or others from purchasing and possessing firearms for the duration of the order,” DOJ noted.
During her visit to Parkland’s Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, where 17 people were killed in a February 2018 mass shooting, Harris is expected to introduce the effort and call “on states to pass red flag laws” and use federal funding to implement existing laws, according to the White House.
Attorney General Merrick Garland said in a statement that the effort will provide “valuable resources” to those seeking to keep firearms out of the hands of those deemed a threat to themselves and others.
“The launch of the National Extreme Risk Protection Order Resource Center will provide our partners across the country with valuable resources to keep firearms out of the hands of individuals who pose a threat to themselves or others,” Garland said. “The establishment of the Center is the lates t example of the Justice Department’s work to use every tool provided by the landmark Bipartisan Safer Communities Act to protect communities from gun violence.”
School shootings are not a big problem. They happen very rarely. I’m not even sure how many school shootings are real, and not somehow staged by the government.
Mental illness is a spook, and anyone can be accused of being mentally ill. I guess we all have problems, but there is no one who can go to a psychiatrist and not have those problems turned into a pathology. No one goes into a psychiatrist and is told they’re fine, they just need to man up and handle their shit.
So anyone can be targeted here. The government can make a story about any single person being mentally ill.
More importantly, this is just the beginning of the gun grabs. They are normalizing federal gun-grabbing. Some people will probably kill cops that come to take their guns away, and that will then be used as proof the cops were right, and this will quickly progress into even more aggressive policies.
Thomas Jefferson said that the purpose of the guns was to protect from tyranny by allowing people to resist the government. The conservatives have always said that gun-grabbing was the only time they would use guns to defend themselves against government tyranny (they had no other red lines, such as child trannies or tens of millions of immigrants). It has become a bizarre type situation, where the only reason you own guns is to protect guns, but they are still very obsessed with the gun issue.
The NRA was defending the people’s gun rights for a long time, but they’ve now been broken down and hollowed out. There’s no real first line of defense here.
I’m sure there are a few people in America who are not lying when they say they’ll shoot at the cops if they come to take their guns. The feds will likely pick out people they expect to do this, raid them, and make a big deal on TV of it. Then people will think twice, and just hand over their guns peacefully, despite the decades of chanting “from my cold, dead hands.”
