How’s that civilizing mission going, huh?

Any luck so far?

Daily Mail:

Irate students have painted over Rudyard Kipling’s venerated poem ‘If’ – repeatedly voted the nation’s favourite – because they believe he was a racist.

He actually was racist.

To be otherwise is to be an imbecile who can’t grasp basic notions of reality.

And imbeciles who can’t grasp basic notions of reality aren’t really good poets, as we’re about to see.

The much-loved 1895 work, which is inscribed over the entrance to Wimbledon’s Centre Court, was put up to inspire undergraduates and staff.

But within a week students had replaced it with ‘Still I Rise’ by Maya Angelou, branding the University of Manchester’s decision ‘deeply inappropriate’ and upsetting to ethnic minorities.

This is the “poem” they replaced it with:

A “poem” by a caricature of a gorilla asking you if you find its imaginary sexiness “offensive.”

And these animals compare the inane scribblings of this creature to Kipling…

A team removed Kipling’s verses on Monday and accused the university of insulting students by putting it up without consulting them and saying: ‘Black and brown voices have been written out of history enough’.

Most of you vermin didn’t even know what written language was before White men came and taught you.

How about a little gratitude?

BTW, isn’t this vandalism or destruction of property or something like that?

Why haven’t these “people” gotten arrested?

The 1895 work contains no reference to race, but the students said it was still offensive because some of Kipling’s other works are about colonialism.

His 1899 poem The White Man’s Burden has been criticised in modern times for advocating colonialism and portraying other races as inferior.

Never read it, but I saw the movie.

Wasn’t very impressed.

This is the original:

That’s a poem where Kipling describes White people making themselves miserable trying to bring civilization to lesser hominids.

The sad part is that he actually thought this was a good thing – that trying to civilize the inferior races, instead of the more logical path of exterminating them and taking their lands, was a good idea.

And his much-loved work The Jungle Book has also been branded racially insensitive.

But many, including academics, say he was respectful and affectionate towards the empire, especially India, where he was born in 1865.

Yeah, that’s the problem.

He liked people who bathe, brush their teeth, shit and throw grandma’s corpse in the same water.

He really should’ve known better after living around them…

Welfare officer Deej Malik-Johnson told The Tab website: ‘On Friday, we noticed an artist had painted a Rudyard Kipling poem in the students’ union. This was done without our consultation or approval.

‘This was especially problematic given the poet’s imperialistic and racist work such as The White Man’s Burden, where Kipling explains how it is the responsibility of white men to “civilise” black and Asian people through colonialism.

“Welfare” was the first word that came to mind when I saw this

‘We decided to paint over that poem and replace it with Still I Rise by Maya Angelou, a poem about resilience and overcoming our history by a brilliant black woman.’

LOL

On Facebook, Liberation and Access Officer at the University of Manchester Students Union Sara Khan, wrote: ‘A failure to consult students during the process of adding art to the newly renovated SU building resulted in Rudyard Kipling’s work being painted on the first floor last week.

‘We, as an exec team, believe that Kipling stands for the opposite of liberation, empowerment, and human rights – the things that we, as an SU, stand for.

‘Well-known as author of the racist poem ‘The White Man’s Burden’, and a plethora of other work that sought to legitimate the British Empire’s presence in India and de-humanise people of colour, it is deeply inappropriate to promote the work of Kipling in our SU, which is named after prominent South African anti-Apartheid activist, Steve Biko.’

Firstly, what the fuck is a “Liberation and Access Officer?”

Have the Jews gotten so lazy they can’t even pretend the makework they create for their pets has some point to it?

Fatima Abid, the general secretary of Manchester’s SU, added on Twitter: ‘Today, as a team we removed an imperialist’s work from the walls of our union and replaced them with the words of Maya Angelou- God knows black and brown voices have been written out of history enough, and it’s time we try to reverse that, at the very least in our union.’

And secondly – why aren’t there any British people here?

You’d think there’d be a couple, what with this being Britain and all…

Chris McGovern, of the Campaign for Real Education, criticised the Manchester students saying: ‘This is outrageous cultural vandalism. Kipling is a much beloved poet.

‘These students are closing off access to one of our most popular poems and it is Liberal Fascism.

I don’t think this guy understands what Fascism really is.

‘They are snowflakes who should not be indulged. Forcing your views on other people should have no place in British society.’

These are not “snowflakes,” they’re invaders who are actively trying to destroy your culture.

And the only solution to being invaded is getting rid of the invaders, not some vague bullshit about “muh principles.”

You’ve been warned before, and you did nothing.

Now would be as good a time as any to start…
