Burning Gay Flags is Not Illegal, These People are Just Lying

Personally, I’m on team “Burn them all.”

I mentioned it yesterday, but I didn’t realize the extent to which conservatives are claiming that it is illegal to burn the gay flag. It is definitely not illegal to burn a gay flag. All these cases they are linking of people being charged for defacing a gay flag involved real crimes, specifically theft and vandalism.

Some of these cases have been “enhanced” as hate crimes, with people getting worse charges than they would for stealing a non-gay object and burning it. That is obviously bad. But these people are purposefully trying to deceive people and make them think it is against the law to burn a gay flag.

There are thousands more of these tweets. It’s impossible to find anything on Twitter, I think by design.

This is total scum behavior. Lying on purpose to confuse people in order to push a censorship agenda.

And even if Democrats had made it illegal to burn the gay flag, why would Trump not just write a law legalizing burning gay flags? Why would your argument be “we need to do censorship to match their censorship”? That is a terrible argument and a terrible way of thinking about politics.

Burning the US flag is not really very important in itself. Obviously, I support it, but it might seem too abstract to be relevant. But that isn’t the point. What we saw under Biden and are now seeing under Trump is the government getting more and more involved in censorship of speech. Of course, it was all the way back in 2017 that I was banned from everything. That was, however, “private companies” banning me. I said at the time that if the government was not going to protect my speech, which is what the Constitution says it’s supposed to do, then it wasn’t really any different than the government censoring me. I pointed out that I would have much preferred to pay a fine or do a few months in jail – i.e., receive a government punishment for my speech – than be banned from all internet and financial services for the rest of my life.

Saying “it’s only the government that is allowed to strip you of your freedom of speech” would be like saying “it’s only the government that’s not allowed to murder you.”

There is an entire underlying issue around freedom of speech here, and it is very concerning how conservative commentators are dealing with it.

Matt Walsh is literally saying “I want to take away their freedoms because they took away mine.”

If Trump has all this power, why doesn’t he just restore the banned freedoms?

Switching presidents every 4-8 years and then having them each take away more freedoms, while no one even calls on any of them to restore lost freedoms, is a path to a tyranny where literally everything is illegal.

We all know what is going on under there, and it is not a jawline.

Conservative commentators are all worthless garbage. I can understand that they wanted to support Trump because they believe in elections and thought he was better than Joe Brandon. When a candidate is out of power, they can’t do anything anyway, so there is nothing to criticize them over. But after the election is over, your job should then be to criticize Trump when he is doing bad things.

Also, for everyone saying that fat guy got arrested because of Trump’s executive order – that is not how executive orders work and you’re retarded if you think that. He was arrested for starting a fire in a federal park in front of the White House. He could have been burning McDonald’s trash and yelling like that and would have been arrested.

If you thought that every time Trump signs an EO, every single police officer gets an immediate text message like “go look for anyone doing this immediately,” you are just a dumb person. Sorry. You should just be able to work through logically that it doesn’t work that way.

Look. I don’t even live in America and I am not planning to ever go there again. God willing. I’m not worried about being arrested. But I do run an internet website which is accessible in the US. With the way right-wingers are currently hopping on board the censorship train, this site is going to end up being blocked by law in America.

Why is this even a thing? Oh, because you hate gays and blacks and immigrants. Okay, fine. But if they were going to get you to go along with censorship, they would first have to find people you hate, right? Right? They wouldn’t get you to support censorship against people you don’t hate, would they? So they would have to find people you hate and then start agitating you that the censorship was against them, if they wanted you to support censorship.

This isn’t really very confusing or complicated.

As far as Trump’s plan to change the name of the “Department of Defense” back to the “Department of War,” I support it.

I would actually take it a step further, and say it should be changed to “Department of Blowing Up Hospitals and Bombing, Shooting, and Starving Babies for Jews.” If that name, DOBUHABSASBFJ, is too cumbersome, they could also just call it “Department of Jewish Services.”
