Look, no one likes Alec Baldwin. That goes without saying.
But it’s not his responsibility to check the fidelity of the blanks in his guns on a movie set.
Disgraced actor Alec Baldwin refuses to accept any culpability for killing cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the “Rust” film set and will fight his manslaughter charges, his lawyer said Thursday — who insists “we will win.”
Baldwin, 64, will be charged with two federal counts of involuntary manslaughter for the October 2021 death of Hutchins, New Mexico District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies announced Thursday.
The cinematographer and mom were killed when Baldwin shot a prop gun in her direction that was loaded with a real bullet.
“This decision distorts Halyna Hutchins’ tragic death and represents a terrible miscarriage of justice,” the “30 Rock” actor’s lawyer Luke Nikas told The Post in a scathing rebuke of local New Mexico authorities.
“Mr. Baldwin had no reason to believe there was a live bullet in the gun — or anywhere on the movie set,” his brass continued. “He relied on the professionals with whom he worked, who assured him the gun did not have live rounds.”
The “professional” was some fat millennial slut.
Remember that?
That creature is also being charged. At least there’s that.
But what is Baldwin even being accused of? They said he should have checked the gun, but how is he supposed to know the difference between blanks and live rounds?
Further, he would have had to have taken the bullets out of the gun to check them.
Anyway, whatever. I don’t really care what happens to Alec Baldwin, beyond the fact that I care about justice generally and the American legal system specifically.
He’s a white man who accidentally killed a woman. That’s why he’s being charged. If he’d been a woman or a colored, they wouldn’t have included him and would have only charged the bitch who loaded the gun, who was already breaking a law by having live rounds on set in the first place.
