Chicongo: Two Cops Get Struck by Train While Chasing Wild Coon

Edward Brown.

These two men died while chasing a lamppost-swinging ape around a dense urban jungle.

Does that sound like police work to you?

Because it sounds more like zookeeping to me.

Daily Mail:

A man is facing two felony weapons charges in connection with the deaths of two Chicago police officers who were struck and killed by a commuter train while they were chasing him.

Chicago police said Wednesday that 24-year-old Edward Brown of Chicago is charged aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and reckless discharge of a firearm.

He’s due in bond court Thursday.

Eduardo Marmolejo, 37, and Conrad Gary, 31, were fatally struck by a train Monday as they investigated a report of gunshots on the city’s far South Side.

Marmolejo and Gary were pursuing Brown, who had headed toward train tracks and were hit shortly after 6pm as the commuter train passed through the area, Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson said.

He added that the vehicle was going at a high speed when the law enforcement officers were killed.

He later updated that a suspect was caught.

Brown was taken into custody and a weapon was recovered.
