We constantly hear about the alleged persecution of Christians in China and Republican news outlets like Fox News and Breitbart promote it, and claim that it has some relationship to the persecution of Christians in the West.
This is all fake.
Christianity is not outlawed in China. What is semi-outlawed are various cults funded by the State Department and the CIA, which are outlawed because they oppose the government, not because they promote Christianity.
Everyone can argue about the Chinese policy of banning criticism of the government. But we cannot argue that this is what the policy is and the only reason that Christians are ever “persecuted” is that they violate policies regarding criticism of the government. And when the media frames it otherwise, they are simply lying.
Fox News tells us today:
Shortly before President Trump signed phase one of the historic trade deal with China, a Chinese pastor described the fear and intimidation believers are enduring under the Communist government.
“The Chinese government has now placed severe restrictions and policies on the house churches asking neighbors to spy on one another, pressuring school teachers and college professors to betray and sign a statement to denounce their own faith as well to do the same to students,” Pastor Jian Zhu said.
Zhu described the Chinese government’s alarming actions as Christian persecution has continued to spread around the world.
Some 260 million Christians have been living in areas of high persecution — that’s one in eight believers worldwide — an increase of 10 percent compared to last year, according to the watchdog group Open Doors USA’s 2020 World Watch List.
“The drivers of persecution are still very significantly entrenched. Islamic extremism is spreading in Sub-Saharan Africa and Southeast Asia,” David Curry, the president and CEO of Open Doors USA, told Fox News. “Then you add this rise of surveillance technology and strategy by China.”
Every year, Open Doors USA, a bipartisan grassroots organization, has released a list of the 50 most dangerous countries for Christians. North Korea topped the list for the 19th year in a row, but China became the focus this year because of its forced labor camps and oppression of Uighur Muslims that’s expected to spread and worsen.
That is all just a bunch of bullshit.
Firstly, what the hell does Moslems being sent to concentration camps have to do with an organization that tracks the persecution of Christians?
Are these not two separate religions?
In actual fact, oppression of Moslems is historically considered a very pro-Christian policy.
This “Open Doors USA” group is a shill group.
Look at their map of persecution:
According to Open Doors USA, Russia has “high” persecution of Christians.
Russia, a country that is nearly 75% professed Christians.
Russia, a country that builds three new churches every day.
Also according to this map, the US has no persecution of Christians.
The US, where Christian bakers are run out of business for refusing to bake gay cakes and atheism is taught as a religion in public schools.
The reason Russia is on the list is because they outlaw weird cults like Jehovah’s Witnesses. The reason these cults are outlawed is that they are funded by Western NGOs to destabilize Russian society, which is Orthodox Christian. They are also involved in other crime.
Russia bans these cults to protect its Christian heritage, and Open Doors USA claims that this is “persecution of Christians.”
It’s a different lie they’re telling about China, but it is the same type of lie.
In December, China jailed Wang Yi, an alleged Christian pastor, and all of these Western conservative media outlets framed it as an anti-Christian conspiracy.
In fact, Yi was a cult leader, a political activist and a US State Department shill.
China has an official semi-governmental body that promotes Christianity in China.
The China Christian Council (CCC; Chinese: 中国基督教协会; pinyin: Zhōngguó Jīdūjiào Xiéhuì) was founded in 1980 as an umbrella organization for all Protestant churches in the People’s Republic of China with Bishop K. H. Ting as its president. It works to provide theological education and the publication of Bibles (mostly in the Chinese Union Version), hymnals (the Chinese New Hymnal mostly), and other religious literature. It encourages the exchange of information among local churches in evangelism, pastoral work and administration. It has formulated a church order for local churches, and seeks to continue to develop friendly relations with churches overseas.
What the US State Department and all these various NGOs do is promote revolutionary anti-government cults under the guise of “promoting religious freedom.”
They use the euphemism “home churches” for these cults.
Virtually all of these cults are weird faith-healing mystical cults, and virtually all of them preach revolution against the Chinese government, often for conflicting reasons. Because any old reason will do.
And get this: as long as you don’t have more than 25 people in the “home church,” you’re allowed to operate without a problem. But the West is building revolutionary armies.
There are churches everywhere in China. You go in shops and restaurants, and people have crosses and icons publicly displayed.
People can talk about “OH BUT THE GOVERNMENT IS FORCING THEM TO BE PART OF A GOVERNMENT CHURCH GROUP” – but this is just playing to the lowest common denominator know-nothing.
Literally EVERYTHING is regulated by the government in China, meaning that as a matter of absolute fact, Christians are NOT “targeted.”
Once again: you can criticize China as an overly authoritarian society, if that is your thing. But the implication that Christianity is somehow illegal or that Christians are targeted specifically by the government is just an outright hoax.
Just understand this: no Chinese Christian has ever been forced to bake a homosexual cake. That is an absolute and uncontested fact.
Furthermore, no Chinese Christian has ever:
- Had their child taken from them by the government because they didn’t want him to be a transsexual
- Been forced to witness a homosexual “pride” parade (unless they lived in Taiwan or Hong Kong)
- Had their children taught about anal sex at a government school
- Been fired from their job because they didn’t support gay marriage
In America and the West generally, Christians are much, much more “repressed” or “oppressed” or whichever word you want to use than they are in China.
All of this stuff that is printed in the Western media about this alleged anti-Christian sentiment in China is simply designed to stir up anti-Chinese sentiment domestically.
There is also a constant need of Western governments to tell people how oppressed other people are in various parts of the world, in order to reinforce the idea that people in the West are free, when in actual reality, white people in the West are literally the single most oppressed group ever in history.
I have been to all of these countries that the West calls “dictatorships,” and not ever have I felt less free than when I was in the United States of America. Except maybe that time I went to England.
