A woman died after she was shot by her boyfriend Friday morning in North Linden, Columbus police said.
Police and Columbus fire medics were called to the 1600 block of Genessee Avenue just before 10 a.m. The police homicide unit said Friday night that Deborah Saenz, 32, was found shot multiple times. She died a short time later at OhioHealth Grant Medical Center.
Detectives said that Marcos Solis, 22, called 911 and said he had shot his girlfriend. He was charged with murder and is being held in the Franklin County jail pending an appearance Saturday in Franklin County Municipal Court.
A neighbor said Saenz and Solis appeared to be romantically involved, yet fought frequently. The neighbor said police had been called to the home several times, including earlier this week.
This isn’t the first time that Solis has been in trouble. Solis was 14 years old and living in the Hilltop in September 2011 when he slit the throat of Tyquane Greene-Tucker, a classmate at Columbus’ West High School, with a box cutter, Dispatch archives show. Solis pleaded guilty to delinquency counts of felonious assault and possessing a dangerous weapon in school in October 2011 in Franklin County Juvenile Court.

During a hearing Saturday morning in Franklin County Municipal Court, Solis’ bond was set at $1 million.
