The three people walking through a dimly lit parking lot near a University of Connecticut student apartment complex probably didn’t know they were being watched. But as the trio crossed in front of an open window repeatedly saying the n-word louder and louder, a person inside wasn’t just observing — they were recording.
Now, university officials say an investigation into the 11-second video, which started to widely circulate on social media earlier this month, has prompted campus police to arrest and charge two students Monday night with violating a Connecticut hate crime statute.
Jarred Karal and Ryan Mucaj, both 21 and described by police as white, were charged with ridicule on account of creed, religion, color, denomination, nationality or race. The misdemeanor charge is punishable by a maximum of 30 days in jail, a fine of up to $50 or both, according to state law.
Police found that the third person in the video did not participate in saying the racial slur, university spokeswoman Stephanie Reitz told The Washington Post. Reitz said the university is investigating whether Karal and Mucaj violated the student code of conduct, which could result in additional penalties as severe as expulsion.
“It is supportive of our core values to pursue accountability, through due process, for an egregious assault on our community that has caused considerable harm,” UConn President Thomas C. Katsouleas said in a statement late Monday.
So these kids weren’t even calling anyone a nigger.
Not that it would matter if they were, but they were not. All they were doing is walking through a parking lot at night saying the naughtiest of all words:
NIGGER
They were saying it because it is empowering, both because it is naughty and because it allows a white man to, for the span of two syllables, feel like a man.

Two syllables of what Jefferson Davis felt when he was elected provisional Confederate President.
The law telling them they can’t say this is a fake law.
It is obviously unconstitutional.
As the regular reader is aware, I live in Nigeria, and it is very hot here. So sometimes I visit Eric Erickson’s Red State blog to get takes to cool me off.
And they are over there saying that the reason that they charged these students with this crime is to get their names in Google.

One has to wonder if this sort of retardation is malicious. Actually, you don’t have to wonder – it obviously is malicious.
Yes, of course they want to punish everyone who does anything by getting their names in Google associated with something bad for the rest of their lives – we all get that. Very basic point.
But their names were already going to be on Google because – DUR DUR DUR – “Reitz said the university is investigating whether Karal and Mucaj violated the student code of conduct, which could result in additional penalties as severe as expulsion.”
The school was going to print their names no matter what. Because they apparently violated some school policy by saying “nigger” alone in a parking lot in the middle of the night. That is completely separate from anything criminal.
The actual reason why they are being charged under this fake law is the same reason that these fake speech laws are being passed everywhere.
The same reason New York City passed a law saying it is illegal to call an illegal alien an “illegal alien.”
They are psychologically preparing people for the time when these things literally are illegal. They are also setting up potential Supreme Court challenges, which will allow for the SCOTUS to allow “hate speech” laws, which they will do after they stack the court.
Which they are announcing they’re going to do.
You people have absolutely no idea how bad things are going to be when the Democrats take over the government.
You need to start realizing it and you need to start realizing it quickly.
I think it’s pretty clear now that Donald Trump is going to get another term.
But you’d better use that extra four years to get organized and get ready for hell to break loose, my good lad.
