It’s all too familiar to neighbors living at Tishman and Scales.
Crime tape and police cruisers set the scene for the day in the West Columbus neighborhood. Residents there say the neighborhood isn’t what it used to be.
A neighbor, who did not want to be identified, sat in his driveway to watch police investigate the latest round of violence.
“Within the last 5 years this community has went to hell and back. I heard some shots last night, it’s not the first time I’ve heard shots out here,” they said.
Shots were fired in the middle of the night. A mother of three young children called 911 when the violence started.
The frantic call came from the home on Scales, where a fight started. Her children were inside.
Police say two armed men, Clement Cooper and Michael Long, had been burglarizing the house when a father and his two sons came back from work.
Fights broke out and a woman caught up in the scuffle was shot in the neck.
The father and his two sons were stabbed. One suspect, Cooper, died on the scene. Police took Long into custody. He faces murder charges.
Alan Bolt spoke to 10TV News about the incident off camera. He lives in the home and said his brothers and father were stabbed multiple times in the fight.
