A driver who killed a pregnant woman and her unborn child has been jailed for seven and a half years.
Floyd Mangove was driving at high speed when his car hit 22-year-old Paige Jackson while she was walking in Leicester on 15 February.
Mangove, 22, from The Fairway, pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving at Leicester Crown Court.
Doctors tried in vain to save Ms Jackson and her unborn child. Both died in hospital, shortly after the crash.
Det Sgt Mark Partridge said: “Any fatal road traffic collision is upsetting, but this was made all the more so by the fact Paige was pregnant with her first child.
“Mangove was driving at high speed and the results of his actions have been devastating.
“A family have been left without a daughter and will have to live with the consequences of that for the rest of their lives.”
As well as being jailed, Mangove was banned from driving for 10 years.
