A Little Rock woman pushed an elderly man and assaulted his wife Sunday night after being asked to stop cursing at a local restaurant, authorities said.
Jocelyn Thornton, 33, was arrested about 9:20 p.m. on charges of second-degree battery and second-degree assault.
Police say the victims reported they were eating at Cuisine of China at 7316 Geyer Springs Road when Thornton began cursing as she talked loudly on her phone in the dining room.
The 74-year-old man “asked her to stop cussing,” Little Rock police wrote in an arrest report, adding Thornton then went to the couple’s table, began pushing the man and cursing his wife as she got up.
Thornton then hit the 69-year-old woman on the side of the face before grabbing her around the neck when she pushed back, the report said. The woman reportedly suffered scratches on her neck and a bruise and scratch on her left wrist.
Thornton remained in the Pulaski County jail Monday morning with bail set at $10,750. She is due in court later Monday for a preliminary appearance.
