Elon Musk is Right About UBI

This is kinda just an obvious thing.

CNBC:

Billionaire tech titan Elon Musk has been tweeting quite a lot of late — about everything from his philosophical mentors (Douglas Adams and Isaac Asimov) to his political leanings (he’s a socialist).

But nearly lost in a flurry of tweets, Musk now says that universal basic income (UBI) — essentially, free cash handouts — “will be necessary over time if AI [artificial intelligence] takes over most human jobs.”

That’s what Musk tweeted Friday in response to a question from a Twitter user who asked him if he supported UBI.

I don’t really understand how anyone can disagree with the reality that if labor is free – and robots mean that labor will be free – that the entire basis of the economy will no longer make any sense.

The framework of all economics is based around labor. All economists, from ancaps to commies, talk about labor as the core of economics.

So what do you do then?

No one is going to be hired for jobs if the companies have robots to do the jobs.

But UBI, whatever, whatever – we can figure that out.

The problem is that at the same time as we are removing all the jobs, we are flooding ourselves with brown people who are going to be the first to be eliminated from the workforce.

And unlike white people on welfare, they don’t just sit around and play video games. They riot and commit all types of violent crimes.

So that is the real issue – what are you going to do with all of these brown people?
