Why is this happening?
Who thinks this is a good idea, to start a war in Venezuela?
That’s a serious question. I don’t have a bead on who thinks this is good. Where does this fall on the Ukraine-Israel spectrum? I don’t know. It seems like the Israel people would definitely be into it, just because the media keeps saying “communist.” Israel supporters are probably saying “we need to go in there and start shooting babies and lighting people on fire to support our values.”
But where are the Ukraine people? The “Keev” people? I assume trannies and such are illegal in Venezuela, but a lot of the Keev people support Gaza, so that’s clearly not the dividing line here. And I don’t think Maduro is some kind of white supremacist imperialist fascist or whatever.
So are the Keev people Team Maduro? I keep checking Twitter to try to figure this out, but I don’t understand how the interface works anymore.
The Venezuelan strongman Nicolás Maduro has vowed to “pulverise” the latest challenge to his rule and told troops he is “willing to do anything” to protect his “revolution” amid growing criticism of the crackdown that followed last week’s disputed election.
Maduro says more than 2,000 people have been arrested in the days since the 28 July vote while human rights groups say at least 22 people have been killed.
On Sunday, the EU said it was “seriously concerned” about the growing number of arbitrary detentions in Venezuela and the harassment of the opposition, which has produced evidence suggesting its candidate, Edmundo González, won the election.
From all the pictures I’ve seen, in Venezuela itself, the protesters are all women.
I don’t know what that says about the Ukraine-Israel spectrum. Probably nothing.
I do think these women probably have lighter skin than the Maduro supporters, who are mostly primitive village people.
“The European Union calls on Venezuelan authorities to put an end to arbitrary detentions, repression and violent rhetoric against members of the opposition and civil society, and to release all political prisoners,” the EU’s foreign policy chief, Josep Borrell, said in a statement.
Canadian foreign minister Mélanie Joly also condemned the violence in a statement on Sunday and said citizen witnesses and international observers had provided “credible evidence” that the results provided by Maduro’s authorities “don’t reflect the will of the Venezuelan people”.
Maduro, who claims he won the election but has yet to provide proof, rejected such criticism on Sunday during a military ceremony in Caracas.
“The EU is a disgrace,” Maduro told members of the Bolivarian National Guard, a branch of the military that has been involved in the clampdown.

Translation: “The same EU that recognized Guaido, Mr. Borrell is a disgrace, led Ukraine to war, is silent in the face of the massacre in Gaza.” (Note: Those seems like fair points.)Â
Decorating troops whom Maduro said were injured while responding to post-election disturbances last Monday and Tuesday, Venezuela’s authoritarian president said: “We are confronting, defeating, containing and pulverising an attempted coup in Venezuela”.
Maduro, who was elected after the 2013 death of his mentor Hugo Chávez, urged military chiefs to order a “total deployment” of their troops in response to the opposition challenge. Earlier, Venzeuela’s president told troops equipped with rifles and riot shields: “You can be certain that we will go after all of the criminals and all of the fascists because fascism will not seize power in Venezuela. I am willing to do anything and I am counting on you to ensure order, law and the constitution prevail.”
Maduro is finally saying he is going to ban social media.
ULTIMA HORA | Maduro dice considera necesaria una “regulación nacional” en redes como TikTok e Instagram, por considerar que son “multiplicadores del odio y el fascismo”.
Es decir quiere prohibir Instagram y TikTok de Venezuela.

Probably would have been a good idea to do that before the US-backed riots started. We’ve pretty well established that if you don’t ban US social media, on a long enough timeline, the US will start a revolution in your country.
As we’ve seen with the Ukraine and Gaza, support for these wars is really polarizing. A lot of women and homos got really animated about supporting the Ukraine war, then got even more animated about opposing the Gaza war. It was many of the same people, which still doesn’t really make any sense to me, no matter how many theories I hear about it. You also have the MAGA people getting really into supporting the Israeli Jews, while claiming they are against the Ukraine Jews.
I don’t even know if the government people – who support all these wars – know which portion of the population is going to support which war. I think with Venezuela they definitely don’t know and it isn’t immediately obvious.
