This is one of the weakest explanations for not releasing information to come out of an intelligence agency I could think of in this case.
It would make more sense if they said something ridiculous like inter-dimensional aliens stole all the servers and wiped any copies of the information to make it impossible to release.
There is of course a huge amount of public interest in this, this is one of the primary reasons Trump was elected. The American people want to know of all the shady dealings done by the swamp which has destroyed the government.
Trump needs to declare martial law or take some other action to force these files to be released.
