A man who helped care for a 94-year-old woman in Florissant killed her by beating her and stabbing her in the face, then summoned an Uber to carry him from the murder scene, authorities say.
Tommie C. Coffer Jr., of Ferguson, was charged with murdering a 94-year-old woman in her Florissant home on Dec. 18, 2017.
The caregiver, Tommie C. Coffer Jr., 54, of the 1300 block of Hudson Hills Drive in Ferguson, was charged Dec. 21 with second-degree murder and armed criminal action.
Coffer and his mother both worked as caregivers for the victim, Geneva Richardson. They called authorities shortly after 2 p.m. on Dec. 19, saying they had found Richardson dead after going to her home on a cul-de-sac in the first block of Club Grounds North Drive, which winds through the Florissant Golf Club.
Richardson’s body was discovered in a pool of blood in the master bedroom. She had injuries to her head, and there was blood on the corner of a nearby dresser. At first her death appeared accidental, perhaps from a fall.
