A suspect has been charged in the Tuesday-night shooting death of a Huntsville man at a gas station.
Delvon Oneal Barnett, 29, is charged with capital murder, said Huntsville police Lt. Michael Johnson. Barnett was booked into the Madison County jail on Wednesday around 8:30 p.m., records show. He is held without bail set.
Barnett is charged in the fatal shooting of 41-year-old James Edwin Jones, according to police. The shooting happened Tuesday shortly after 11 p.m. at Fuel City on U.S. 72 in north Huntsville.
Officers said they found Jones inside a vehicle that his wife crashed while trying to drive him to the hospital. Jones died after being taken by emergency medical workers to Huntsville Hospital.
“The homicide unit worked tirelessly to solve this case…,” Johnson said in a statement. Investigators interviewed multiple people and served a search warrant to collect evidence before charging Barnett, he said.
