Five people have been charged and arrested in connection with a 2018 double murder in Alabama’s Fayette County.

The New Jersey State Police on Monday announced they arrested Michael “Jersey Mike” Council, 25, and Lazaro Moran, 33, on capital murder charges. According to Alabama court records, they are charged in the May 1, 2018 shooting deaths of Hernan Antonio Padilla, 55 and Allen Clifford Sandlin, 56. Council and Moran live in New Jersey.

Alabama court records show that three others also have been charged in the slayings of Padilla and Sandlin: Lindettia Lynette Lowery, 33, of Fairfield; Brandon Dewayne “Kid Blu” Lowery, 34, of Gadsden and Britanny Bell-Spates, 25, also of Gadsden. The three latter suspects all were arrested on July 17, according to court records.

Court records show Brandon Lowery, who has previously lived in Fairfield, is set to go to trial next month on two armed robbery charges that took place in the Bessemer Cutoff last year. He pleaded guilty in 2002 to robbery and was sentenced to 20 years in prison.
