The single transgender golfer at the NXXT Women’s Classic tournament in Florida won first place on Wednesday.
Hailey Davidson, a biological male who identifies as a transgender woman, shot at one-over-73 and finished the tournament with a score of +4. This is Davidson’s first win in almost three years. Following the 16th hole, Davidson was three shots behind but tied during the first playoff hole and earned a Par on the second hole.
“I had come so close lately with a playoff loss 3 starts ago to then finishing one back last week but this is why you never give up no matter where you think you are at in a tournament!” Davidson wrote on Instagram. “It’s never over until that last putt goes in on 18 so push till the end!”
As a result of the win, Davidson has increased chances of competing in a qualifying tour. Additionally, Davidson has two Epson Tour exemptions along with the other top five golfers.
