This system is just so corrupt and insane.
Why are they allowed to raise money?
Why doesn’t the government itself simply provide them with advertising and a stage on television?
That would allow any person to run for office. Instead, you have this openly corrupt system, and no one even talks about it or blinks.
President Donald Trump’s re-election campaign raised $46 million in the fourth quarter of 2019, a major haul that was boosted by a surge of donations in the wake of the Democrats’ impeachment bid, a senior campaign official said on Thursday.
Bernie Sanders raised more than $34.5 million in the last quarter of 2019, his presidential campaign said on Thursday, the largest three-month haul of any Democrat so far in the contest to take on Republican President Donald Trump in a November election.
Pete Buttigieg raised $24.7 million in the last three months of 2019 and has raked in over $76 million since he launched his run for president, his campaign said Wednesday.
Democratic U.S. presidential candidate Andrew Yang raised $16.5 million in the fourth quarter, his campaign said on Thursday, well ahead of the nearly $10 million he collected in the third.
Seriously.
This system needs to end.
Just let everyone who wants to run sign up, then do debate championship brackets with internet polling.
There is no reason “campaign finance” should exist at all. It is so obviously nothing other than standardized political corruption.
