Gavin McInnes: He’s edgy, brah

Charlottesville has created an orgy of lawsuits.

Both Gavin McInnes and Paul Nehlen are now being sued for… posting the name of the previous owner of James Fields’ Dodge on Twitter.

This one is friggin nuts.

What damage did this person suffer?

MLive:

Joel Vangheluwe was nowhere near the deadly Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, on Aug. 12, 2017.

He was at a wedding.

But that didn’t stop numerous alt-right news outlets, blogs, public figures and others from identifying the Macomb County man — and in some cases his father, Jerome Vangheluwe — as the driver of a silver 2010 Dodge Challenger responsible for killing 32-year-old activist Heather Heyer and injuring 19 others.

The fallout, which included calls for the retaliatory killings of the Vangheluwes, illustrates how “fake news,” whether published with malice or the product of sloppy, negligent reporting, can quickly proliferate, impacting public perception, and ultimately, the lives of individuals.

Internet sleuths incorrectly concluded, based on a license plate number, that Jerome Vangheluwe owned the Dodge Challenger involved in the Charlottesville attack.

He had owned it, but sold it years ago — and it had since changed owners multiple times, according to a federal lawsuit filed Feb. 14 by Joel and Jerome Vangheluwe against multiple “alt-right” news outlets, reporters and other individuals claiming defamation.

I mean, come on guy.

You owned the car.

It’s a simple mistake.

You know, I’ll bet you there are Jews somewhere behind th-

Yeah.

I guess the good news is that people will be less likely to play the “name the shooter” game next time.

I hate that game.

We all know who the shooter is.
