The U.S. government will pay the vaccine maker Moderna $176 million to accelerate development of a pandemic influenza vaccine that could be used to treat bird flu in people, as concern grows about cases in dairy cows across the country, federal officials announced Tuesday.
Moderna already has a bird flu vaccine in very early-stage testing that uses the same mRNA technology that allowed rapid development and rollout of vaccines to protect against COVID-19. The new funds from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services include continued development of the vaccine, including a late-stage trial next year if those early study results are positive.
I don’t know how much they’re actually hyping this.

I’m actually skeptical.
Making the vax doesn’t necessarily prove anything, other than that the US government is corrupt and run by pharma lobbyists.
Public health officials in Colorado on Wednesday announced an adult man had tested positive for avian flu after reporting mild symptoms, including conjunctivitis, or pink eye.
The man is an employee at a dairy farm who had exposure to infected cattle and recovered after antiviral treatment, officials said.
It was the fourth human case of bird flu reported in the U.S. since avian flu was confirmed in cows in March. The prior three people to test positive were also dairy farm workers who recovered.
They’re hyping.
Wait for the Joe Biden switch to be settled.
