A GROUP of wealthy gypsies who leave glitzy Monaco for a summer holiday in SWANSEA every year have been evicted by Welsh police – to the delight of locals.
About 30 families have hitched their caravans to their BMW’s, Mercedes and Rolls Royces and made the trip from the French Riviera to Swansea for the past four years.
To disgust of residents the well-heeled travellers pitch up at a local beauty spot popular with picnickers and sports teams and make it their summer home.
Locals say nearby footpaths are used as a toilet and left awash with faeces and urine.
But yesterday residents were delighted when police moved in and they were evicted.
But Swansea’s joy After means misery for Manchester and Birmingham as the gypsies plan to head to those cities next.
The Daily Mail reported that a boy was seen defecating on the grass, and black bin bags had been piled up with strands of soiled toilet paper spilling from them.
One local resident said: “If we did that in France, we’d be kicked out after five minutes. It’s not fair. This is the only flat park in Swansea where children can play football and hockey, but because of them they can’t.”
