Nicole Thompson has three broken bones in her jaw and a broken finger after being attacked with the brute’s sledgehammer.

Henderson Police said the number of people attacked by a man wielding a one-handed sledgehammer has grown to 10.

They said a few more people came forward and claimed 31-year-old Damien Robins attacked them.

Robins was arrested late Friday night by Henderson Police, however, he’s accused of attacking people there and in Boulder City.

Police said Robins of Las Vegas committed the acts in a span of one hour. Investigators said the incident began in Boulder City at around 8 p.m. when Robins allegedly ran another driver off the road on U.S. 93.

Police said after that happened, Robins struck the man several times with a one-handed sledgehammer, before driving away.

A little while later, officers said Robins ran another driver off of the roadway and attacked that driver.

Police said Robins then drove to Henderson, cut off a driver at Greenway Road and Horizon Drive, and then went after him with the sledgehammer. Robins got back into his car and drove up Greenway Road to Heather Drive where he allegedly, cut in front of an oncoming vehicle, according to police.

At least 10 people were attacked by Damien Robins with the sledgehammer.

The driver of that vehicle stopped and officers said Robins attacked her before again fleeing the area.

8 News Now spoke with that victim, Nicole Thompson, 27, by phone as she awaited surgery at a local hospital. Thompson said she was trying to drive to her Henderson-area home, when a man, who police said was robins, cut her off, got out of his car and approached her with a sledgehammer.

“He got out, holding something, a hammer in his hand,” Thompson said. “So, I was saying ‘Please, you have the wrong person, please, please, please,’ and he started hitting the car. I just started telling him you know, I don’t want to die, I have a child at home, and he just started hitting me in the face.”

Thompson said her attacker could not be reasoned with.

“He was just crazed,” she said. “I don’t know, he was just going and just hitting me.”

Police said the attacker was Robins. Thompson said eventually, he walked away from the car and she drove herself home, where she saw the extent of her injuries, which include three broken bones in her jaw and a broken finger.

“I drove to my house, got of the car and walked into the house and saw a mirror and I realized, it was bad,” Thompson said.

Police said Robins then drove to Foothill High School, hit a man with the hammer and took off as officers arrived to the scene.

First he began attacking the car.

Henderson Police said Robins drove to a Taco Bell restaurant on Horizon Drive and blocked a vehicle in the drive-thru before attacking that driver.

Officers said the 31-year-old then sped off and pulled into a nearby neighborhood and cut off another vehicle. They said Robins smashed the car with the hammer. However, that driver wasn’t hurt.

Officers chased Robins until he was taken down by a K-9 officer on Arrowhead Canyon Drive.

“I’ve never seen anything like this in my career,” said Keith Paul, a spokesman for Henderson Police. “I’ve been in town for 15 years and I’ve never seen anything quite like this.”

Damien D. Robins of Las Vegas is being held in the Henderson Detention Center and faces six counts of attempted murder and one count of assault with a deadly weapon.

Police said none of the people he allegedly attacked knew or had a connection with Robins.

“They were all random acts,” Paul said. “There appear to be no relationship between the victims and the suspect.”
